Thanks again for your help. I just got a co2 system with solenoid. At night can I just unplug it or do I have to shut off the valve as well?

I did the wc, and the next day the ammonia was back... I'm beginning to lose patience, but at least it's giving the HC some time to carpet...(got to keep my chin up). Anyone have any other advice? Should I continue to do wc's?

Not yet, but I've been reading about the regulators that SUMO has, and it is beginning to sound very tempting, although a bit pricey. Please excuse the noob-ness but what does the solenoid do? Does it allow me to shut off the co2 when I want?

Good news - the ammonia levels read 0 today! After many many WC's, I think the ammonia has finally stopped leeching. I did another water change tonight, and hopefully the ammonia will stay at 0 in the next few days. If it doesn't go up, does that mean I'm good to start stocking the tank? The...

Thanks for the quick response. I found a cheap tank on craigslist that comes with a regulator. Assuming that it works, is there a link to a proper needle valve?

Gday all. I have a real simple question that needs an answer. If I want to go with a pressurized co2 system, is all I need a tank with co2, a regulator (will any regulator work?), bubble counter, co2 lines, and a diffuser? Short, and long answers are more than welcome! Thanks!

Another update. I did another 80% water change over the weekend, and the ammonia is back up to 4. I was stumped for a bit, but I finally realized that I am falling victim to the infamous ammonia spike ADA comes with. So I suppose I will continue to do some water changes. I just hate that...

Is there a specific type of baking soda, or can any run of the mill baking soda work? Also how much baking soda should I put into the filter bag? Thanks for answering my questions. :)

Well, I just checked the ammonia levels again last night, and it's still at 4. The plants doesn't seem like it's taking in the ammonia. I may just have to get some crushed coral to get this cycle process moving. How much do they normally cost?

Well I did about a 90% water change over the weekend. I managed to get the PH up to 6.4. But it dropped back down to 6 or below over night. Ammonia levels are still at a constant 4. I'm just going to leave the tank alone until the plants establish themselves nicely. Or at least until the...
