yeah bettas are fine without heaters (regardless, it's necessary that the temp stays around or above 72) but it's really suggested to have a heater in the tank anyway because it helps keep the temp the same.

I would suggest a tall clear plastic candy type dish with a lid for quarantine. They are bigger and much cheaper than those betta bowls. You can find these at walmart in the tupperware or dish isle. They are clear plastic, and maybe about 9 inches tall and 7 inches wide with a lid that screws...

I can back that up! They do jump! My girls get anxious when it's feeding time. As soon as I walk over with the food they start dodging around everywhere and I have to have the food ready before I open the lid otherwise they will jump up and try to get it. They are total brats :wub:

How long have the male and female been together? Sometimes it takes them awhile and while I'm surprised he isn't showing much aggression, it does happen sometimes. I have had one that just didn't act interested. If they are still together, watch them closely because he could (and probably will)...

Yes, mush or cut them up and make sure the outside shell is off and only the mushy part is in the water. he should go right after them! if this doesn't work after a day or so then I would add a tiny bit of epsom salt. it works every time for my little ones.

yeah mine have done the same. pics will be helpful if you are able, but do be cautious that a big tummy and egg spot may not always mean it's a girl. a male can have what looks like an egg spot as well. but as i said before, mine have done it, it's just a lot more rare!
