    Ginaekdal's Tanks

Since my last update it turned out someone on my street was selling a 54-litre tank complete with lid, lighting, and filter, so I caved and picked it up today. Dad is making me a custom stand for it and I expect I can scape and fill it this weekend. I guess I will make the new one my Endler tank...

    Ginaekdal's Tanks

The surviving barb fry count has been upped to four as of today. :)

    Ginaekdal's Tanks

I have certainly neglected this thread but I have far from neglected my fishkeeping hobby. I had my three-month MRI scan a few days back following my brain surgery and whilst I am still waiting on the results I have kept up with my tanks. The big tank houses the original group of eleven barbs...

    Ginaekdal's Tanks

I went ahead and checked out the new local pet and fish store today. When I say "new", it is actually the old one that has very slightly moved location and expanded a little. I had gift cards valid for the whole centre anyway so I figured I might as well use them all towards my fishkeeping...

    Ginaekdal's Tanks

A few days after I updated this thread last, I was diagnosed with an unruptured brain aneurysm. Initially I was told I would have surgery within two weeks, however they then wanted to perform an angiography first. Due to a hospital strike it took six weeks for the results to be looked at, and it...

I need help choosing new light tubes

Brilliant, thank you so much. They might not be as much hassle to replace as I thought.

I need help choosing new light tubes

PS. Are the T5 and T8 tubes interchangeable?

I need help choosing new light tubes

Hello, somehow the light tubes in both my tanks have blown at the same time. One is currently empty and can wait at a push, the other holds eleven P. titteya. I am in a desperate hurry to replace the lighting as I have major surgery coming up in two weeks and the tanks will have to get by with...

I Think I Stressed Out My Betta. He Has Been Hiding In A Cave For 6+ H

Could you not simply have moved the media from the small filter over to the bigger filter? The bioload from a betta is very small. Is the new tank planted? Get some mature filter media in the filter, and stay on top with water changes.

    Ginaekdal's Tanks

Exciting things are happening; I have ordered a homemade stand for a third tank. I have yet to buy a tank, but having somewhere to put one seems the logical place to start! The stand will be made the same as the stand for my 115 litre tank; practically solid as brick except slightly shorter...

Stocking A 6.6 Gal Tall Tank

By the species you list I assume you have soft water. Is that correct?   I also see the tank dimensions are 40x20x46.5 cm holding 25 litres. With those dimensions a Betta is really the only sensible choice IMO. That said I have a Betta in a 63 litre and would personally not want one in a...

    Ginaekdal's Tanks

Had a good laugh today as I observed two of the younger barbs playing and spawning behind the filter as opposed to in the plants.   It coincidentally followed directly after giving the barbs a frozen bloodworm treat.   The Betta got his glass cleaned for the first time today which went fine; he...

    Problem With Neon Tetras

I would hand the remaining fish back to the store and take time to set up a significantly larger tank and cycle it appropriately. No use worrying about stocking before you have this in place. You also need to determine whether your water is hard or soft. The fish you have mentioned all require...

My Pothos Plant, Hornwort And Sunset Gouramie

I'd be interested in a picture, too. I love Pothos plants and have several in pots around my flat. Out of interest how did you go about putting the roots in the tank? The only Pothos plants I find around here are sold grown and potted in soil meaning I don't want to risk trying to adjust them to...

    Ginaekdal's Tanks

Thank you! He is alright for having been picked up at the store and he has coloured up some since I brought him home.   No Anubias in sight at this point in time. :) The bright green plant is an Echinodorus cordifolius "Fluitans". It is very attractive in a tank! I would love to supply my...
