    My Stunning Amano

All in the lens quality really. The real star is the Shrimp that actually managed to sit still for a minute!

    My Stunning Amano

Thankyou all again for the great help, and kind comments.   Just a thought, I am literally living on the coast (the pacific shore is about 100ft away from my house.  Would sea water taken from here be worthwhile? Dangerous?   BTW @sawickib, love the Endli in your sig! I used to be an Avid Bichir...

    My Stunning Amano

Thanks all. I WAS planning on trying FW, as a friend here (in Japan) that introduced me to the stream where I catch them literally left a bunch in a tank with moss, and had babies, lots of them without doing anything. But if brackish is the way to go, I can always try that.

    My Stunning Amano

I have decided to challenge myself to spawn my Amano.   I currently have 5 Amano in a 20gal that I caught myself from a local stream. There are always 1000s of them clinging onto the banks. Of the batch I caught this year, I have 2 females and 3 males.  All look just like normal Amano, but the...

How Readily Available Are Channa Ornatipinnis In The Uk?

Yup, I mod over at Snakeheadforum (as tokyogasmask), and agree very resourceful. Still IMO, even most of the Gachua complex will need more than a 2ft x 1ft tank. (especially more than one!) In that size tank you could probably get away with one MAYBE two of the smallest Channa such as Orientalis.

How Readily Available Are Channa Ornatipinnis In The Uk?

Tank is too small for Channa Ornatipinnis. Especially a pair. Success story or not, Nelly would agree also. You want 3ft x 1.5 x 1.5 as a MINIMUM.

    Question About Bichir

Hi. It all depends on what type of Bichir we are talking about. Smaller upper jaw or bigger lower jaw? My biggest Bichir is a 70cm P. Bichir Bichir. She is fed every other day mainly with Hikari "massivore" pellets combined with small crab, shrimp and occasional fresh beef heart. My smallest...

    New Delhezi Bichir :)

All my Bichirs are on a staple of Hikari Massivore.

    Senegal Bichir

Hi. The Senegal will not enjoy the ph usually associated with Cichlids. 55g is fine for a senegal, and it isnt in any danger from the tankmates, but I can tell you now, the ph will be a problem.

Can Different Birchir Species Live Together?

Hi. Most Bichirs can live with each other. It is a size thing though, so it is better to keep lower jaw (Endlicheri, Congicus, Lapradie, Bichir Bichir Ansorgii etc) separate from upper jaw (Delhezi, Senegalus Palmas etc) Though there are 3 species of upper jaw that I would not keep with other...

    My Gar Fish

LOL, you can accuse me of "talking #107###" all you like, but after your post about your RTC, and 2 silver Aro's in a 4x4 tank thread, your reliability when it comes to large predatory fish is very low. Back on the subject, the care sheet you just copied and pasted is for what fish exactly...

    My Gar Fish

@Tripp, spouting complete rubbish! If you are going to correct someone, at least get it right! Show me a green Florida Gar. And what planet do Long nose (needle nose) gars never grow bigger than 15"? more like they can grow up to 6ft! The OP's fish is not a "Needle Nose Gar". It's a Florida...

    My Baby Arrows

The heating may be not 100% accurate on that article, but it's an estimate. A lot more accurate than your 100w for a room sized tank story. I'm sorry, but I hate seeing fish like this being bought when it's very clear the outcome is not going to be good. Without going off topic, go you have...

    My Baby Arrows

RTC do not "grow to tank". They WILL grow very large. Will it grow to it's full potential in a 4 x 4? Most likely not, but you are purposely stunting it. Why would you want to do that? 4ft length is no where near enough. The Aro will very likely grow to 2.5-3ft (possibly more) giving it just...

    My Baby Arrows

Not quite sure you get the point here. Your "designer tank" is still nowhere near enough to home an RTC, and Arowana!! Just another one of these "my planned tank.. blah blah" stories, then 99.9% of the time never happen. Why kid yourself? IMO the only home suitable for a RTC is in the wild or...
