Zikofski,
Sorry it took a while but I can't resize on the iphone so had to get to the laptop. This is a photo of the diffuser. It's just a centrifuge tube with the tip cut off and stuffed with foam filter material to slow down the CO2 bubbles. I'm using good quality silicone tubing so...
Could just get a free Dropbox account and put them in the public folder. That will give you a link to post
Hi Chris. I'm Chris also. Welcome to the forum (from Wash DC)
This was just an experiment after reading some sites and seeing some youtube videos. Bottles are 2000ml from my lab CO2 diffuser inside tank (not visible in photo) is a nalgene tube with end cut off stuffed with filter material from my Betta tank DIY filter. Powered by yeast, suger, and water. I...
It was terrific when I had it. The only reason I do not use it anymore is because I bought a Fluval canister filter.
If I was going to purchase another HOB or needed one for a smaller tank or to compliment the canister I'd definitely go with the AquaClear ones.
Ah thanks everyone. I really had no knowledge of them and this helps immensely!
Gilli: you have just 1 cichlid in a community tank? Doesn't he/she bother the others?
Fortunately my little one isn't at that age yet so I'm lucky. That's another reason I want to start the marine now so at least it's established by the time all that comes around.
At the moment we have a 5.5gal for his Betta and a 20gal community (guppies, glo tetras, 1 cory, 1 bristlenose pleco) and presently I'm cycling a 100gal tank that's going to be a salty (cycling for a while because of using uncured live rock). Probably going to be a reef tank and have a starfish...
I'll throw my 2p into this and say I vote for Fluval. The eHeims are nice but I've never had any issue with the Fluval canister filters. One of the drawbacks (and I admit it's a minor one) is here in the states, being the eHeim uses metric parts, it's much easier to find parts for Fluval than...
I'll second the motion for a canister filter. You can get a little Fluval 105/106 and have fine control over the flow. Alternatively you can build your own and saw a little money. Check out the site: REMOVED BY MODERATOR
For 10 gallons you can also build one with a bottle, some bio ceramic...
