You could always just add an Otto or two to the tank and they'd get rid of the algae pretty quick.

It was terrific when I had it. The only reason I do not use it anymore is because I bought a Fluval canister filter. If I was going to purchase another HOB or needed one for a smaller tank or to compliment the canister I'd definitely go with the AquaClear ones.

I've none with AquaOne but do with AquaClear. Maybe it's the same product but different name?

Fortunately my little one isn't at that age yet so I'm lucky. That's another reason I want to start the marine now so at least it's established by the time all that comes around.

At the moment we have a 5.5gal for his Betta and a 20gal community (guppies, glo tetras, 1 cory, 1 bristlenose pleco) and presently I'm cycling a 100gal tank that's going to be a salty (cycling for a while because of using uncured live rock).  Probably going to be a reef tank and have a starfish...

Not sure where this topic went to but you could always use silicon aquarium sealant (like the kind they use to join the tank glass)

I'll throw my 2p into this and say I vote for Fluval.  The eHeims are nice but I've never had any issue with the Fluval canister filters.  One of the drawbacks (and I admit it's a minor one) is here in the states, being the eHeim uses metric parts, it's much easier to find parts for Fluval than...

I'll second the motion for a canister filter.  You can get a little Fluval 105/106 and have fine control over the flow.  Alternatively you can build your own and saw a little money.  Check out the site:  REMOVED BY MODERATOR   For 10 gallons you can also build one with a bottle, some bio ceramic...
