they are malawi cichlids the ones with the spots are male and the ones without are female they're not nest builders they're mouth brooders

this is usually a sign of breeding but as they are still juviniles i would say its a sign of aggression

ive kept malawis for a long time and i would recomend a slow flow idealy from a medium size fluval plenty of lava rocks and coral. I wouldnt worrie to much bout waiting for the tank to mature malawi's are quite a hardy species. i have set up new tanks and put fish in same day never had a prob.

wouldnt try it if your heater is doing to much work it might blow the way you have been doing it is about the best way. STOP BEING LAZY.
