A few random pictures from the past week or so

Thanks! So many crypts for me to try, so few tanks, lol. My favorite plant genus!

    What are you cooking?

Innesfan, they were talking about SF, but other cities around here also have Chinatowns...none are very close to me. We seem to get a few not very good 1s here that last for a year at most. I guess part of that is what dishes you like & how they're prepared. Mostly I cook, so dinner out or take...

A few random pictures from the past week or so

I love watching young fish mature into adulthood. Always fun & sometimes surprising. Way back on your post #184 is that a crypt with thick leaf stems & silver sploched leaves? It looks very different & cool!

waiting ( not so patiently ) for your fish to mature...

I would agree that growing up several youngsters of a given species can have changing dynamics as they mature. It can also change things up if fish are moved to a new tank. Suddenly, they're not known "buddies" from hatching, they're potential mates or competitors...& all heck may break out!!

    Boy or girl..

In a general cichlid way, I'd say probably male based on humpish head & the long dorsal & anal fins. What size is it? I've never kept flowerhorns so I'm guessing...

    What are you cooking?

I've never has Thai food with cashews, sounds good! Different than Indian kormas I make, I'm sure. We usually have homemade brown rice. I bought Thai red rice (cargo rice) but husband isn't a fan even though that's what our Thai place calls "brown" rice; he's had it many times. We rarely eat...

    optimistic about 2026

Magnum, it sounds like you have a good plan for retirement. Some travel, a big new tank, fishing & keeping some animals too. Enjoy it! My husband was "retired" from his job in 2013 at 55. 2 years after we moved here & a few months after getting expensive solar panels, eek! We didn't want to go...

Help identifying lump on dojo loach

Oh, just sand sprinkles on her head, lol. That's good! I would still do extra water changes just to be safer with that bubble/injury or whatever it is on her face. Watch for redness or changes. Both the pleco & raphael have pectoral spines, maybe a little sparing for a cave? The catfishes can...

    Axelrodia riesei

I had to look them up. https://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/axelrodi-riesei/ They do look more streamlined than embers. A plus in my book, I don't like serpae tetras & any tetra that looks like them (embers, rosy, etc.). I know they not all like serpae, but..just 1 of my fish bias/phobias. It...

Help identifying lump on dojo loach

I also see what looks like a scrape just behind her? head (short pectoral fins = female). Do you have anything your tank that could cause that (rough rock, etc). The "tumor-like" thing could be from an injury, something pointy? Another loach or other spined fish? My first go to is frequent...

    tablet thoughts?

Well, a friend sent me a redbeat 8 inch tablet & I'm thrilled! :D It works great for my reading needs with both Libby & hoopla from my library. I've now downloaded books from both, very easy. Just what I wanted!! 👍 hoopla can also do movies & videos but I haven't tried that yet. Not all...

    What are you cooking?

I have to disagree with ketchup on meatloaf sandwiches. It's mustard all the way here! Actually, I prefer just leftover plain meatloaf, no bread, no condiments...but I let my husband get his leftover sandwich 1st on rye bread. We had a new curry from a pouch tonight. Pretty spicy hot but not...

those that have had an aquarium start leaking...

I've had only 1 tank develop a leak over 40+ years. A 55g suddenly started dripping from a low? spot. Husband wasn't home, so I called a friend & said "Emergency! Bring buckets!" & she did. We rescued all fish. That was my 1st resealing attempt & it worked well. I have since resealed a couple...

    Difficulty with bucephalandra "minis"

Wow, Zer0Fame, you gave some very good advice. I'm very sorry you lost all your buces. That is vastly worse than my missing 1s & gimme30's unhappy minis. "magician" is very cool! I thought Skeleton King was a harder 1 to grow for some reason. Maybe it could be our local water.
