    A Pleasant Meeting

Trying to be sort of PC & I've been reading old fantasy books lately. It seemed an apt expression, lol. When I got 6 juvies of 2 species of apistos, the females were way more ready than their clueless males. The females knocked the snot out of them when they didn't catch on to subtle flirting...

Have you read any book when you started tank or ...

We had a Little Golden Book of Tropical Fish that barely explained cycling but at least mentioned it. I think it was from the late 70s or early 80s. We also relied on library books, much less on fish stores, they just wanted to sell us stuff...even when they were right, lol.

    What are you cooking?

I only do half & half on vacations. Dunkin seems almost too "smooth" but I never tried DIY. My mom's gentleman friend loved it, he was from MA. I want coffee very soon after I wake up, I don't really taste the 1st half cup, lol. We ate leftover stroganoff yesterday. Tonight we're having hot...

    A Pleasant Meeting

I'd say that's a successful 1st meeting. He's on full display & she's noticing. Neither shows aggression. Is this her "maiden" encounter? Might be a smallish brood if they make it that far. My cac females were beyond pushy but your male looks up to holding his own. Lots of nice egg laying place...

    Holy Moley- is it possible???????

That's a good looking tank! I'm sorry you lost some more barb fry, but you know if they spawned once they may well do it again. Maybe now that you're feeling better & after your long weekend you can start offering big shrimp again. I forget, was it raw or cooked? That seemed like almost the...

    What are you cooking?

My fil used freeze dried instant, it was ok but not something I'd do at home. It didn't help that his tap water wasn't good either. He got a Keurig as a gift, it was better but a PITA to have to rinse out the reuseable "pod" each cup. I'm not at all sure about your fiber supplement addition...

    What are you cooking?

I'm not much of a coffee snob. I appreciate better coffee but don't really care too much as long as it's strong. My slippers are from Target. An emergency buy after I got a lot of fish water in my old 1s last year. Leather & rubber (like) soles are my only requirements & that they never walk on...

    What are you cooking?

We used drip coffee makers too. I use a Mr Coffee, well, my husband makes mine, he can't drink it anymore. My aunt did plug in percolator, it smelled good. She used powdered skim milk, we were whole milk drinkers & had to remember it was "poison milk" at her house. No, gimme, we were not...

    What are you cooking?

:p to you Jay (the most polite I can be, lol) for both taxes & PB cookies & Reese's. You're missing some seasonal events :D good & bad. None of your PB options sound good to me, to each their own. Did you ever try grilled PB sandwiches? Not as good as PB on toast or grilled cheese on rye but...

    What are you cooking?

I like the diner phone too, love the details! Is that a round thermometer by the old phones? We still have the cheap phones from the late 70s when you could buy off brand 1s under $10 (why?). 1 you could hear well on, but speaker was more muted, the other was the other way around. We tended to...

    What are you cooking?

Yeah, I don't know the ins & outs of ceramics either. My general idea is stoneware really weighs a ton. In my younger married years, we had dishes of it & even then a stack of plates was heavy! Porcelain maybe too delicate for a klutz like me. I like Pyrex & Corelle ware, not so heavy or as...

    What are you cooking?

Those look nice, Jay. Maybe mini-meatloaf size too? We're having black bean & gr. beef tacos tonight, I need some cheese!

vegetables in an aquarium??? celery anyone???

LOL, that reminds me of covid days when we tried to grow romaine from "stumps" outside. They sprouted but it got too hot too soon. I've also tried sprouting basil stems, it works but I forget to pot it up. None were in a tank though, not enough sun. Good luck, you're good at emersed tank plants :)

    Rainbow goby

I have (or had) 1 each 2 different stiphodon gobies in my hillstream loach tank. My tank is very overgrown so I rarely see either. I've had them for at least 12 years. I didn't realize I still had 2 until we saw both at once. I think we've discussed "rainbow gobies" before but there's a...

I am done with fish keeping because....

I'm sure I'm not the only 1 that would love to see pics of your skink. Not my hobby, but I like pics of others' pets or wild outdoor reptile friends. Sometimes it's good to take a big step back but not to close the door on the future. I agree, if you can store some equipment, do it. For future...
