    Cycling Not Done

TwoTankAmin, I don't doubt you in any way and I thank you for your reply and links which I shall read with interest. I should have made it clear in my replies to the OP that they were my views and mine alone.   I still stand by what I said in that if I was wanting to add 15 Cichlids to a new...

    Cycling Not Done

I may be wrong but using Dr Tims and trying to do a fishless cycle is probably waisting your time, I don't believe in these "bacteria in a bottle", I have yet to see any proof they work despite what the manufacturers will have you believe.   As far as I'm concerned, with the amount of fish you...

    Cycling Not Done

the problem you have is there is no way of knowing if your tank will be cycled by the 7th, I wouldn't fancy putting 15 fish in an uncycled tank

    Spare Heater

According to the Juwel website, a 100w is standard for my tank and a 200w is compatable so I should be OK with the 200w.   Thanks for all your advice

    Spare Heater

thanks, I was thinking that, plus, I suppose a 200w would work less hard in maintaining the tank temp   I'm not too clued up when it comes to watts, amps, ohms etc

    Spare Heater

I'm looking to buy a spare heater for my 110l tank. It currently has a 100w one, but looking at prices there is no difference between a 100w and a 200w. Are there any advantages/disadvantages of going for a 200w heater?

Do You Believe In Starter Fish For Beginners

If they refused to go fishless, I wouldn't hesitate in refusing to recommend any fish, my answer certainly wouldn't be to advise on suitable starter fish.

    White Film?

+1 for the kitchen paper method, works a treat, especially on dog/cat hair that seems to get in my tank.

    Holiday

8 days will be fine, they will find something to munch on while you're away. I've always stayed clear of those feeder blocks though, don't trust them.   One thing to add, I always do a slghtly bigger than normal water change the day before I go. I also have a neighbour who looks after the cat...
