A good catch on the windex. I don't use glass cleaning chemicals on my tanks so not an issue for me. I did ( and always do) dose my tank with a de chlorinating liquid (Prime). I have been advised not to wait until the tank is refilled and do it straight away in the future.
The only behavior I...
Not as such, I had done more water changes than usual recently as I have re-scaped the tank about 6 weeks ago.
I'm going to get some free chlorine ( not total chlorine) test tabs today to see if anything is happening with the chlorination of our water.
I won't know until I test, but I doubt it...
This is just pure speculation, but after researching it seems there was a tragedy of user errors.
1. I filled the tank using a submerged jug and a hose going into the jug. Apparently this causes gases to form under pressure. I think my fish got "the bends" ?
2. Water was tepid, but maybe this...
Hi,
I've had the same 4 ft planted tank up and running for almost 3 years.Water parameters are handled well by the canister filter and water changes.
I use Seachem Prime when I attend water changes. I've followed the same routine with flawless results.
This morning I woke up to find 5 dead tiger...
Sorry for verbose title.
We've had a pair of Kribensis for approx 2.5 months.
In that time, they have paired, built a home and spawned twice.
Each time the fry only lasted a week - numbers gradually dwindling and then zero fry.
Now the male is outside the home area and chasing everything away...
Thanks for the in depth response and ideas.
I forgot to mention that I have a "Hospital / plant storage" tank that came into being after multiple harvests from my old established tank over the two years. Those plants are in the new tank.
I have used old recycled substrate media in mesh bags...
Thanks again. I wasn't feeling brave enough to add a few fish - but I did put a golden Chinese Algae eater in there because it was terrorizing one of my other tanks.
I'm keeping an eye on the water parameters for sure . . . the Algae eater can be my "Canary in a coal mine" for now :)
