    Ph Kh And Sodium Bicarbonate

Hi. I have had my tank set up for 18 months or so and all has been well until a couple of weeks ago. My Ph dropped to below 6 from a steady 7 and my cycle stalled slightly. The good news is I have managed to get through this with daily 15% water changes and the use of API proper ph 6.5. My Ph...

    Subtrate For Bottom Dwellers

I bought 25kg for aquarium sand for ten quid from my local fish store. It doesnt seem to matter much though as long as you clean it really well. 10 good changes of water till it runs clean and bear in mind that it will take maybe a couple of days or so to fully settle once added to your tank...

    Subtrate For Bottom Dwellers

Hi. I know I am a little late on this but I have just made the change from gravel to sand and I cant believe the difference its made to my corys. They are having a great time rolling round in the sand together and the tank looks far more natural. A lot of the fish mess is also left on top of the...

    Oscar In A 180Ltr Tank ?

Hi There. I am trying to decide if an Oscar will be ok in my 180ltr Juwel Rio Tank. I have a Tetra tec ex 700 mature filter on it. Problem is there is a lot of contradictory information coming my way. 2 friends say it will be fine. Both have had Oscars before in similar size tanks. Also both my...

    Clown Loaches.... Aggressive?

I Have recently bought some clown loaches to control my snail issue. They are very friendly fish and play with my corys all the time. I am wondering if this lady has got confused with Tiger Barbs as I hear they are aggressive and they possess similar markings. I didnt realise just how big the...

So I def need some buffer in it. the KH was green almost from the first drop. I have read that adding sodium bicarbonate will increse in KH. Is this right...

    Water Adjustments

Hi. Thanks for the reply. My pH has always risen slowly no matter what I have had in my tank. I have been looking into water hardness more closely today and am I right in saying that If I make regular water changes with water that is right (Kh & GH) my tank will slowly come back into line. The...

    Green Algae

I Just have one live plant at the min. I have ordered a uv system. Seems like a good idea. I might cut the lighting down a bit like you say. Thanks.

    Green Algae

Could my lighting be the problem. Its the highlight system with daylight and a nature T5 bulbs. Can I just remove the daylight one or should I add another nature one ? I beleive the cardinals and my bristlenose prefair subdued lighting.
