I checked into more info on pup fish and theiy do look somewhat alike the infor I have found states pupfish have rounded anal fins and this one is more of a V shaped anal fins thanks for the help thus far

This was caught with a bunch of mosquito fish in a near by canal in Visalia Ca (central California) it was the only one like this we saw and just clueless as to what it was can someone ID it? size is less then 2 inches long by about 1 1/4 inch in height thank you
