    Feeding My Betta...

I don't have a thermometer, but I'll get one next time I go to town. c:   Okay, thanks!

    Feeding My Betta...

Alright. If I do feed Yun bloodworms sometimes though--I don't want to waste them if I don't have to--what is the maximum amount I should be giving him per week? (Also, Yun often refuses to eat for weeks if I don't give him a bloodworm now and then.)   My tank is about 20 gallons. The heater is...

    Feeding My Betta...

I've had my Betta fish, Yun, for six months now, and used to feed him a few pellets and a few dried bloodworms every day until I noticed that he was getting a bit chubby. Now I'm feeding him four pellets and a dried bloodworm every morning, and occasionally when I kill a mosquito, I'll feed it...

Sick Algae Eater, Not Positive What's Wrong Or What To Do

The problem is that I have only my sister to help me buy fish supplies, and $25 is more than she's willing to pay. Upon further research, I found three different test kits, one for ammonia--the one I showed you--one for nitrite, and one for pH. Altogether it's about $20, so not a lot less, so...

I have another question... sorry! I found a water testing kit that is affordable for me, but before I buy it, I need to make sure it's okay and it's exactly what I'm looking for. How's this? http://www.countrymax.com/Ammonia-Water-Test-Kit-For-Fresh-Salt-Water-Aquariums

Oh, I got a filter a few days ago. Not sure if I mentioned that yet. So I'm going to get a test kit this weekend if I can, and keep a close eye on the water. Keep doing daily water changes? Okay, I'll do that. Thanks!

I changed about 80% of the water immediately.

Keeping golden algae eaters is no longer going to be a problem... My other one just passed away too. Now all that remains is my Betta, who is his usual "cheerful" energetic self. I've learned from my mistakes. No more fish until my tank is cycled.

I'm certainly looking forward to getting everything sorted out so I--and my fish--can enjoy my tank! And I will certainly be coming here with all my fish questions from now on. (:

Thank you so much! I'll check it out.   And again, thank you to everyone for being so patient with me. My mistake cost a fish its life and that makes me feel awful. I just hope I can get everything settled and okay before something else bad happens.   Now, to that link.

Ahh, got it. How do I cycle it? Oh yes, nitrites, that's what I meant. Sorry, it was a typo. ^-^' Shoot, forgot the test kit! I'll have to get that another day, but I will as soon as I can.   No, I don't use anything to kill algae. I clean it up myself.

Sick Algae Eater, Not Positive What's Wrong Or What To Do

Thanks for the tip! I'll take a look. My sister is going to town now and has offered to buy a filter and more conditioner for me. I carefully checked every filter offered at the pet store's website, and made sure that the one I chose removes ammonia and nitrates and adds oxygen and is okay for...

I suppose... Yes, you're definitely right. I'm going to the pet store later today to pick up some more water conditioner. Perhaps I can borrow some money to get a filter too. I doubt my sick algae eater is going to make it through the day--it's really not looking good, despite the water...

Sick Algae Eater, Not Positive What's Wrong Or What To Do

I am in America, New York state to be exact.   They get vicious? I was told they're friendly fish, that some of them can be semi-aggressive, but they've certainly been friendly so far... Oh dear... Now I'm worried. I'll certainly keep an eye on them, and if they cause trouble, I suppose I'll...
