The browny water is normal, there is something you can do about it if you don't like it but I don't remember what it is. But the fungus.. was this driftwood you found somewhere or did you buy it? I'm a newbie but I don't think it would be good to have driftwood covered in fungus..

Thanks everyone for your advice. I think what I will do is try out a few male only guppies first and keep a really close eye on them, if I see any aggression I'll get a female in there pronto and get a black skirt tetra. I have some time to think about it though, still cycling.. blah! I'm so...

afishdude - I will definately look into them. Just a question though - do you often see the babies, or do they pretty much get eaten right away? I have a weak spot for little things, I'm not sure I could handle actually seeing it :( Not to mention explaining to my daughter one day :blink:

What about a 29 gal (with other fish?) So I guess getting 2 male guppies is pretty risky than eh.. :blink: What about platys? Could I get 3 or so male platys or would it be the same deal? What if I only had 1 male guppy, 1 male platy, and some tetras or barbs - will they attack each other...

So, if I only get one male and no other male guppies, just other kinds of fish, can I do that or will he be cranky and attack the other fish? I'm pissed that the petstore would tell me all males are ok if they are not :P I guess that's probably the first of many eh...
