Malawi Peacocks breeders or stockists in the South

Hello. I'm looking for breeders or stockists of Aulonocara species in the Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey area. There are various stores local to me such as Maidenhead Aquatics but they generally stock 'Assorted Malawi Peacocks' and a lot of hybrids. The staff seem to know very little about their...

Loach with white spots on nose

Looks like a fungal infection, cotton wool disease perhaps but can't tell for sure. If water quality is not the best, small wounds become infected. Best to do a large water change and make sure there's no dead fish or decaying material in the tank. Bottled treatments can be bought once you know...

    Considering A Small Shrimp Tank?

You can't go wrong with cherries. Regarding places to hide, i'd recommend coconut caves with java moss attached. I made one myself but you can find them in a lot of aquatics stores already made. Tank mates, i have mine in with neon tetra and they completely ignore the shrimp. I've seen small...

    Considering A Small Shrimp Tank?

I have cherry shrimp in a 30 litre nano cube which is perfect so 20 litres should be fine too. If you want a tank which is designed for housing shrimp then take a look at the Fluval Ebi shrimp tanks, its a kit which you can pick up for about £85.

    Cyanobacteria Treatment

The tank is a Fluval flora all-in-one type set up but currently i'm not using the useless co2 unit that comes with it. Its 30 litres, Fluval Nano filter, Stratum substrate, densely planted. Thanks for the advise i'll try what you say there

    Cyanobacteria Treatment

I've read a fair bit about this annoying blue green Cyanobacteria (which i have a massive outbreak of) and came across a product on Aqua Essentials website called Colombo Aerocol. I think it must be a Dutch product as there is very little info about it in English on the web. I just wondered if...

    New Betta Fishkeeper Guy

They like small tanks with slow moving water. If you take a look at peoples Betta tanks on here you'll notice they are mostly small hex tanks like the one you bought

    My First Ever Fishless Cycle

If you want a smaller Plec you might consider a Bristlenose catfish which looks very similar to a Plec but doesn't grow much bigger than about 14cm

    Red Tail Black Shark Tankmates?

A 10 gallon is way way too small. I just had to take a RTBS back to the shop because it chased every other fish in the tank non stop. I wouldn't have another one unless i had a tank of at least 200 litres and even then i'd ensure its tankmates were bigger than him

    Holiday - Feeding Question

I used a 7 day holiday pyramid feeder and when i came back the thing was mostly gone apart from the base, the fish were fine and the water was clear so i would use it again. Probably depends what fish you have as i have barbs and rainbows which seem to eat everything

Male Betta With Black Ruby Barbs?

Pretty much as the title suggests, does anyone know if i could keep a male betta in a tank with 6 black ruby barbs, 6 rainbows and 1 bristlenose catfish? The barbs i've had for about 6 months and they are not at all aggressive towards the other species and i know they are not known fin nippers...

Could I Have Shrimps With These Fish?

I've never kept shrimp before and wondered whether or not i could have them in with the fish i have. I have 6 black ruby barbs, 6 rainbows, 1 bristlenose catfish. A friend has cherry shrimps in a tank with platies and rainbows and a small plec and has had no problems. I was thinking on getting...

    Whats Your Background?

Have you thought about making a moss wall as a background? They take a while to grow through the mesh but well worth it when you see the final result. There are posts on this forum about how to make them, in the DIY section

    Possible Swim Bladder Problem?

Hello all, Just wondered if anyone might have come across a problem as i did a couple of days ago with a Black Ruby Barb. I have a shoal of 6 BRB's and shortly after feeding one of the males began swimming wildly and out of control, upside down bumping into rocks, etc. I assumed it was a swim...

    Any Ideas?

How about 8-10 zebra danios? Hardy and peaceful fish that would look good in a tank with platys. Pretty small tank so you couldn'y put a lot more than that in there
