I have cherry shrimp in a 30 litre nano cube which is perfect so 20 litres should be fine too. If you want a tank which is designed for housing shrimp then take a look at the Fluval Ebi shrimp tanks, its a kit which you can pick up for about £85.

They like small tanks with slow moving water. If you take a look at peoples Betta tanks on here you'll notice they are mostly small hex tanks like the one you bought

If you want a smaller Plec you might consider a Bristlenose catfish which looks very similar to a Plec but doesn't grow much bigger than about 14cm

I used a 7 day holiday pyramid feeder and when i came back the thing was mostly gone apart from the base, the fish were fine and the water was clear so i would use it again. Probably depends what fish you have as i have barbs and rainbows which seem to eat everything

How about 8-10 zebra danios? Hardy and peaceful fish that would look good in a tank with platys. Pretty small tank so you couldn'y put a lot more than that in there
