    Hose will no longer siphon.

My procedure was to lay the shower end down, walk the hose around the corner to the tank and dip that end in - usually it would begin flowing water immediately, but it just was not last night. Because water was not flowing through, yes, I removed the end and tried again - multiple times.

    Hose will no longer siphon.

Yeah, it’s about a 3 1/2ft difference in height - tank being 3 1/2ft higher than the shower floor. Regular garden hose. Used the end that screws into the spout as the shower/exit end, and that’s always worked - it’s really odd!

    Hose will no longer siphon.

About 3 1/2ft I’d say. It’s just odd how it worked perfectly before, began flowing as soon as I dipped the hose into the tank.

    Hose will no longer siphon.

It saves an incredible amount of time! Well, when it works, ha! I felt defeated last night, me and my wife spent way too much time trying to figure it out and utterly failed. I feel as if we tried everything possible. I’ll try walking it out slowly from the shower bottom end, again, will report...

    Hose will no longer siphon.

Might be a silly question. But I’ve been doing my water changes with a hose the past few weeks without issue. Run the hose from the tank to a close by walk-in shower, it’s a breeze. As of last night I’m having a scientific troubling. Water will no longer flow through the hose. I checked the...

Brand new tank, fishless, Nitrate levels 40.

Okay, great. And just as much BB will develop within the filter itself as well? I do seem to have an issue with two fish in particular, both of the dalmatian molly’s are nipping at the other fish - they are the only fish that are and have been doing this.

Brand new tank, fishless, Nitrate levels 40.

Update: A little over a week now and my fish seem to be doing great. There was an ammonia jump earlier in the week, did a water change, fed less, and ammonia hasn’t remained traceless since. Has anybody used one of those those foam filter blocks? I feared that some of the small fish may get...

Brand new tank, fishless, Nitrate levels 40.

I’m just not seeing how this is going to be realistically feasible. Reverse osmosis is thousands of dollars, also, I’m renting the house I’m currently in. I live in Arizona, rain is not much of a thing out here. Buying a 48 pack of distilled water every week at Costco to do my weekly water...

Brand new tank, fishless, Nitrate levels 40.

I understand. I did read that liquid testers are much more accurate than test strips. But for the sake of getting this going, I figured the test strips would be adequate enough for a baseline idea of where my levels are at. After multiple tests done myself with my own test strips, and PetSmart...

Brand new tank, fishless, Nitrate levels 40.

Hello there. So my wife had the sporadic idea of getting a fish tank this past weekend. Despite neither of us knowing absolutely anything about fish and the process involved to take in and care for fish, I abided - quickly realizing just what we had got ourselves into. We strolled into PetSmart...
