What kind of lighting do you have first of all? That will determine what kind of plants you can keep, its more important than pH or temp... Without answering that question, we can't help you out a lot I'm afraid....

Since you said it gives off a pinkish glow, the first thing I thought about was its kelvin rating. Do you know if its more than 10,000K?

Adding ammonia or an ammonia source (flake food or whatever) should be good enough to keep your benefitical bacteria colony going. As long as the pH is back to normal, I think all should be well. Surprised noone has mentioned cardinal tetras or neon tetras... -_- Rummynose tetras, tiger barbs, zebra danios (and its variations) are all good ideas too, but the danios don't school tightly often. The best fish for this, IME, are harlequin rasboras... :wub: Oh yea, and penguin tetras too...
