This is just a personal observation, and not scientific... I have maybe 50 Corys in multiple tanks, all on black sand and they seem completely fine and healthy.

Unfortunately, I must be doing something wrong, because they keep coming back.
If you have something other than a foam filter, you will want to cover your intake with a sponge. It's not unusual for me to find hundreds of baby assassins in my filter when I clean it.
I spray Windex on a microfiber cloth (not near the aquarium) and then wipe down the outside of the glass with the damp cloth.
My fish seem to live forever.
Has anyone tried this?
My concern is that the Fluval does it's "air purge" thing once in a while and I'm concerned that it would overdose the aquarium with Co2.
