    Who's The Culprit?

Ammonia = 0 Nitrite = 0 Nitrate = 40 Could it still be finrot? Ive noticed one of my Rainbows has a nibble out of its tail too!!

    Who's The Culprit?

I will test my water and report back. I noticed 1 fish had what looked like a nibble taken out of its fin after just 1 day of being in the tank. Surely fin rot wouldnt occur so suddenly?

    Who's The Culprit?

I have just added 8 rosy barbs to my 260l tank and I have started to notice that they are slowly losing their tails! They look like they have been nipped. Could someone tell me who the likely culprit is? I have 3 rather large angels, around 5". 2 x Boesmani rainbows, around 3"-4" 1 x Red Line...

    Disapearing Rummy Nose Tetra's

They died/went mising within a couple of days of purchase, so that sounds like a really good possibility, although I always thought plecs where vegetarian, how wrong was I. My plecs about 6" long. I should look into why they died. Possible lack of oxygen as my fish sometimes swim to the surface...

    Disapearing Rummy Nose Tetra's

The angels have got quite big, but there mouths seem too small to fit a rummy nose in. Is it just tetra's they eat, or any fish tetra size? eg. danios.

    Disapearing Rummy Nose Tetra's

I had 3 left when i removed the pictus. The following day there where only 2, and Ive no idea where themissing one went. I bought 5 more making 7, but one died in the night leaving 6. This morning there is only 5 with no dead body to be seen. I check my water stats every 3days, currently they...

    Disapearing Rummy Nose Tetra's

Over the last 2 weeks I have had several Rummy Nose Tetra's disappear over night. I did have pictus cats in the tank, but they have been moved to another home after one rummy went missing as I assumed it was them eating them. The other tankmates include 4x Silver Angels 4x Red Line Torpedo...

First fish death, but totaly unexplained

Thank you very much for your advice. I've learnt alot today. Ive given my tank a good clean, rinsed out the sponges and filter wool, done 60l water change and more importantly, pointed the outflow UPWARDS slightly to agitate the water surface. Cheers

First fish death, but totaly unexplained

I have the standard Juwel internal filter. Juwel sell an Air Venturi Kit, it says it adds air to the tank. I wonder if its just for visual effect though!

First fish death, but totaly unexplained

Thanks for your help. Is there anything i could have done to eliminate the problem? More surface movement purhaps (How can this be achieved). Thanks again.

First fish death, but totaly unexplained

Yes i did CFC, sorry, i assumed that as i had air lines pumping air into the tank 24hours a day it couldnt have been that. But i guess the fish must have just been very weak. The extra bacteria you say that would have grown to break up the algea matter, will this die off as its no longer...

First fish death, but totaly unexplained

I've just removed him, and I cant see anything wrong with him. It would be less frustrating if i had ammonia/nitrite spike so i knew what killed him. All the other fish look fine. I guess life goes on!

First fish death, but totaly unexplained

Im afraid not, at around 2" i'd consider him young

First fish death, but totaly unexplained

I think he must have died after feeding. He certainly wasnt dead last night, and not noticed when feeding this morning. He's lying at the very front of the tank, so i would have noticed him before feeding if he was dead already. Could he have choked on his food? I run a constant stream of air...
