    Best lighting, while avoiding algae

So I recently purchased a SeaClear 46 gallon bow front acrylic tank, however the lighting fixture that comes with it is rather subpar. I am looking to upgrade the lighting, but I also want to keep algae at a minimum, especially since acrylic has been known to scratch much easier, therefore...

    Ideas for 36 Gallon

I have a 36 gallon bowfront tank (30";W X 15";D X 21";H) that I am thinking about converting from a community to an African Cichlid tank. I have many years of experience with South American Cichlids. Also very knowledgeable with water chemistry and stay on top of maintenance. I've just...

Colorfull fish to add with Severums

I have a Green Severum, along with an "Electric" Blue Acara (really pretty), Tiger barbs (very active schooling fish, come in different colors too), Clown Loaches, Pictus cats, a Blue Gourami, and an African Spotted Leaf Fish. They all work well together.

    Big Community Fish

Yeah I have a plec, one of the Chocolate types, so hes more on the brown side than the black common ones. Hes going to look awesome when he gets bigger I think. I also have a couple of Angels and Firemouth right now. I was thinking of a Black Ghost Knife......but I don't know. They're like...

    Big Community Fish

What are some of the biggest non-aggressive fish out there? Like say I had a 100 gallon, but wanted to make it a community tank rather than aggressive, what would be some good stocking options?

    Frontosa/mbuna Tank

Hows it goin guys? I just moved and now that I'm getting settled in I'm ready to set my tanks back up again and am thinking about going with Africans this time. I like the idea of a Mbuna tank, but would also like to have a nice, big centerpiece fish. I was thinking a bunch of Mbunas then a...

    Stocking Question

I've had a Green Terror and an Oscar together for a little over a year now in a 55 gal. and they have been fine. Get them both when they're young because the Oscar will quickly outgrow the GT, which I think discourages the mean side of the GT to come out. Sometimes my O will swim towards the...

    Green Terror?

I bought mine about a year ago at about 1.5 inches. Now its only about 4 inches, so mine is growing pretty slowly. It's in a 55 gal. with weekly water changes and twice a day feedings. (most days)

    Water Change>

I do a water change every week and about once a month I'll rinse off the filter media (in tank water of course) and take the filter apart and clean all the parts really good. The day after I do that the water in tank is like crystal clear.

    Some Fishy Questions

1- Yes the good bacteria will die shortly after you remove ammonia producing sources. The way I do is I keep a small piece of sponge in the back of one of my filters on my active tanks, then if I need to use the hospital tank I take out the small piece of sponge with all the good bacteria on...

    Frozen Bloodworm

I just drop mine in there, they usually defrost pretty quickly in the tank water. My Oscar always grabs the first cube for himself but then runs and hides while he gobbles it down, so then I drop a couple more blocks for the other fish.

    Whats A Good......

Are you talking about keeping it in your tank, or in storage or something?
