to answer your question though , sometimes livebearers take a few months to sex out , meaning they may all appear to be females and then suddennly develop the male bits

just cos they climb doesnt mean they need to be out of water , fish jump for gods sake but dont mean they dont like water .

mine was in hard water every time , ph about 8 ish , no prob , just slow moving half filled tank with floating almond leave or polystyrene , turn temp down a few degrees for a week then turn it back up gradually , eggs hatch within 1 day

i would guess at saying everyone who reads this has had wild caught fish at some point althought they may not realise it , around 40% of fish are wild caught as its cheaper than farming them or they cant be bred . most plecs are wild caught and things like talking catfish have never been tank...

the replies here are a little misleading , the commonly found red crabs that you see in shops are not fully aquatic but do not need to come out of water , as they only do this for breeding , and ARE in fact freshwater unlike what someone above said , they will live perfectly fine in freshwater...

all of the above is assuming you have malawis , you may have tangyinikan cichlids , either way its difficult to say unless u know what the fish are.

to be honest bactinettes is bloody good stuff , we sell absolutley shed loads of it , posting wouldnt be ideal though to be honest as we recommend it should be used same day . tell your local fish shop they can now get it from underworld , who are now the uk distributor of anything coming from soll.
