Sorry only just replied, wasn't following the thread.
In terms of low light light set up, what I am running as well I found that in my 4ft tank I needed to run 3 to give the same light output visually as 4 T8 tubes. This seems to give better growth during the last year with all the plants I...
This would work. If you got the big roll of white polishing pad materials (can find it on eBay cheap) then you could place that in the back. Have you got your heater, filter inlet/outlet behind the 3D wall? If you do sand would clog it up and mean you can't remove easily for maintenance.
The...
I know you are talking about building your own tank but I would consider checking out http://aquariums.ltd.uk
The design and quality are very good. They have some excellent cabinet designs and the cost seems very reasonable.
Kind Regards,

You won't know without having someone come around. No one here is going to be able to advise you any further without full structural details on your building
I hope that the maths shows that you really need to get someone experienced to take a look if you are not sure yourself.
Kind Regards...
I am a structural engineer and I would not take any direct advice saying it will be fine as it depends on plank spans and location of tank. Also wall construction below would be something to consider.
Most flats and maisonettes have concrete floors as generally the spans can be greater, it is...
Well the one on ebay has jumped to £255 and it is still a 200 litre tank so at that price is reasonable.
I get what you mean but it is solid Oak which commands a premium. The wood itself is worth in the region of £300 before labour and tank costs and that is why they are priced as such.
Hows the tank going?
You got any updated photos and/or details about the lighting. If you can get a new photo and some details on what lights they are can help from there.
Kind Regards,
Adam
I will be over later then (although I will charge my call out fee and hourly work rate for specialist projects(also a structural engineer))
On a serious note. I meant run it down the external of the wall and back up the other side. Only requirement would be longer cable then digging the trench...
My suggestions would be;
Move your plant from behind the bogwood to the left of the tank and about an inch from the backAllow the plant around the filter/heater to spread out and to grow around the back of the bogwood. Maybe buy some more to speed up the processPlace the moss on the mesh in...
I would suggest;
placing Anubias on the left hand piece of bogwood as you have already mentioned. This should run for the full extremity of the left hand piece and maybe even trail up the back edge of the right piece to give the Anubias some heightMove the left piece of bogwood to the right by...
Looking good and following this with interest. You have made good progress with the time you have had. I would suggest running the electric cable down the wall and under the ground and back up to the house. This would mean that you don't have to worry should you be carrying anything such as a...
He is actually about 17/18cm. Hard to measure but that was the best I can get easily. He has been that big since I was donated him about 12 months ago. He came from a friends tank who had him for about 2 years before and was that size then as well so it was from the previous owner again which I...
Yeah I know what you mean. I just like the idea of it being solid oak. Although it says don't get it wet it is not so much structural justification, it is that it will stain unless it is sealed. You could easily do that before filling the tank and know that it is allot more solid than 90% of the...
