Isn't your betta's hex tank 5 gallons? If that's your minimum, then isn't it somewhat lazy/careless of you to only keep your betta in the minimum sized tank if you could upgrade even a little? I do agree that 5 gallons is a good size for a betta (and is bigger than my idea of minimum sized...

^ +1 It's a perfectly reasonable thread, regardless of age. I've now had Marie for 6 months, and I estimate she was between 2 and 3 months old when I got her. Albert Fish, I've had for 3 months and I have no idea how old he is, but his ventral fins are extremely long if that's any indication...

Could have something to do with the different American accents as well. Like in some regions people pronounce egg "ayg" which does bother me, but I've always said "bay-tah" so I can't really complain heh. I've heard "ayg" for egg and "laygs" for legs in the Midwest and parts of the East Coast.

Same here. "Bet-ah" is more proper I think, but I've always said it the other way and I like it better haha.

No preference, really. Around here LFS's are about the only way to acquire a betta besides ordering online. Every time I've bought one from a LFS it was just based on which fish I "connected" with the most, and which I felt sorry for (which is all of them really). Except with Alice...her...

Well here is the tank, it's just a Mini Bow 2.5, but the purple will look nice with the Alice in Wonderland theme I think. And, it seems to fit better into that corner than her smaller cube did, so yay. Edit: I actually took out the fluorescent cave to give her more room. Very cute video...

Oh no. Sorry to hear of this loss as well :( That's quite a bit of bad luck you've had. Were they the only bettas you had?

Got the tank. I'll have to order the mushrooms and the cottage, but we're off to a whimsical start, at least! I'll post a pics and a lil video as soon as I can get them uploaded :)

Thanks for all the compliments. I've had her for a week now and she's doing quite well. I've been thinking it would be cute to set up an Alice in Wonderland themed tank for her! It's been difficult to find much in the way of ornaments though. I've found mushrooms and cottages. But no...
