Thanks.I assumed that not cleaning the tank before hand would give them something to try to eat if they got desperate especially the algae eater??..  I have done a good job keeping the fish alive for years without knowing much about the upkeep.

Have the same multiplication problem.Dont know if i have Mollys or Platys cant remember but the crew is growing.Have a local pet shop that will "adopt" them.I also have a crooked one the has been growing and doing ok for a number of months.Feel bad for him so I will keep him.Charlie
