    Birth Control

I have spoke to my local fish shops, 1 said they take no fish from any customers, the other said they offer little something like pot of food if I grow the platys on to about 1 inch. I will investigate the Angelfish option. I have heard from other sources they like eating fry. However there may...

Finally Caught Her In The Act!

Congratulation, any birth is a great sign of a good tank set up. I have also had the pleasure of seeing one of my platys drop, and my bristlenose catfish spawning once, it makes quite an impact on the whole tanks behaviour and gives you a great feeling of achievement. keep it up

    Birth Control

I have 2 female platys that are constantly pregnant! They take it in turns to give birth. I set up a rearing tank for the first batch (Approximately 20-30 left after a breeder box accident), these are all doing fine. However I can't just tell my platys to stop breeding and now my main tank is...

I have a Fluval 3+ filter. Every 2 weeks I pulled the cartridge off and clean 1 side (1 sponge) in the removed tank water, alternating sides each time.

    Bristlenose Panting Heavily

I will get a Ammonia test tonight to be sure, can see your point. Less than 0.3 is lowest reading on my chemical test for Nitrite. Last water test was done on Sunday morning before the water change, so potentially at the tank worst time. It's 125litres and has been running about 6 months. Yes...

    Bristlenose Panting Heavily

Hi, My female bristlenose has just spawned in my little cave and left the male to it (2nd time). However she now seems to be very lazy and slow, also she is laying with her mouth open not sucking, and panting her gills very fast. I initially thought it may be the hot and humid weather we are...
