I have been in your shoes, small tanks are a nightmare to cycle. 1st thing, return the shark. They should take it back. At the very least give it back. Or commit and get a 30 gallon too. Danios are super hardy, they should live through the cycling. But leave it at 2 fish only till it's cycled...
