    Did I Do It Wrong?

Just a quick update: The male started to dominate the others a week ago with all the brilliant blue on its head. The best part is now the female is holding. PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE... It pays off...

    Did I Do It Wrong?

thanks for the advise... I guess I'll leave the tank as is. But decided to carefully increase feeding to eliminate the possibility of the reason being competition for food. Incredibly the aggression drastically reduced. Still being chased by the female but no more mortal combats... Guess things...

    Did I Do It Wrong?

3 weeks ago I had redecorated one of my 250L with new substrate (silica sand+crushed coral: 5/3), few rocks (lava) and a few fake plants. All water parameters are in good shape. Then I added two species, namely Kadango red borleyi and OB peacock, all from the other existing tank. With regards to...

    Urgent Help Needed

perhaps I shouldn't say urgent.... this was very helpful indeed. thanks anyway... I have removed the adult female to another tank where she now swims peacefully. She will need time to recover from the scratches. The remaining 3 (close-to-adult) females are now surprisingly getting along...

    Urgent Help Needed

would it be a good idea to introduce another male, a younger docile one. And perhaps in exchange of the existing dominant male?

    Urgent Help Needed

Recently introduced 4 female Kadangos (red fin borleyi) and there are scales all around the bottom of the tank. The females are hurt by the male and the chase doesn't seem to stop. What shall I do? I can add several more fishes into that tank, mbuna type, to overcrowd or shall I remove the...

    Mbuna Water Conditions

if u dont have any or enough yet, you may want to add some permanent buffers such as several rock&substrate types as each water change will have a roller coaster effect on the parameters it seems. those numbers are good but u need to maintain them.

    Advise For The New Batch

I'll be out for two days. Those will be the 4th and 5th days after stripping. Am I over-concerned?

    Advise For The New Batch

This is going to be the second time I will strip my OB peacock. The first time was successful in stripping but unfortunate in keeping the fry alive as they got sucked through the breeding net. That lesson is learned. Now a different issue is in the horizon it seems. Today is the 11th day since...

    Aggressive Parrot Fish

I've got two parrots in the cichlid tank and they are not only aggressive to eachother but also act like spawning blockers. Yesterday 2 borleyi's were trying to spawn and whenever the pair found any opportunity to start circling around, the parrot came and screwed up. It is like god gave him the...

    Heater..again Grrr

I wouldn't purchase another at the same wattage if I were you. First of all from a decoration point of view a second heater would unnecessarily crowd the background esp. in small volume tanks and you will have to bother with hiding them behind objects. Second, 2 heaters in one tank may cause...

    Babies Babies Babies

how do you determine all of them survived? You should have at least 60 fry if 3 of them gave birth.

Balloon Mollies Going To Birth Soon?

my balloon molly starts to seem like she is having hard time to stabilize its buoyancy a few days before she's going to drop. She swims always head-up tail-down at an angle of 30-45 degrees just as if she is climbing up a slope but she goes level. And when she does nothing she simply descents.

    Swordtail Fry- Ok With Plec?

To be on the safe side pleco's should not be housed together with any fry. I had a very bad experience with my cichlid fry even though they were in a breeding net got sucked by the plec through the bottom-pores. Well fine, that is the learning curve. I learned in the breeding net one should...

    What Do You Think?

I'm also setting up a mbuna tank with lots of lava rocks. To stem algae growth I'm planning to add 1-2 pleco's.
