Cichlids actually have a personality compared to other tropicals..I have both and I really see a difference.. :rolleyes:

I do 30 to 50% water change every 7 to 10 days...Have no algae!!! And twice a month I clean plants, rocks and any other decor..I do 1 side at a time..Like 1 side today and maybe the other side next week..I have 2 tanks 55g. cichlids and 28g. tropical community.. :nod:

I have a lot of hiding places...The jewel and Acei hide up in the corners so I added plants up there to help them hide...Thanks for all your input I will keep you all posted on what is happening..( Or Not ) :good:

Thanks I have heard that as well...Sooo maybe 2 more acei and 2 more labs? Would you quarantine the new fish or just add them in? And what if the new fish are a lot smaller? My syno's don't seem to be bothered... :good:

I set up a 55g. cichlid tank..Without doing any research and going by the advise of LFS, I think I made poor choices of the fish I chose and now my fish are in for trouble... 2 acei 2 yellow labs 2 jewels 1 auratus 1 bumblebee 1 pleco 3 syno cat's Some people say get rid of this and that and I...

So the little reading I have done so far is 5g. would be good for 1 male Betta...What temp do they need? And do I also understand they don't like a lot of movement in the water? Thanks!!! Betta's

Does anyone keep Betta's? They are so pretty...I know you can only have 1 male..I just hate to see them in those little containers with no filtration..Can they live with filtration? Or can they ever live in a community tank? Thanks....:)

Thanks I hope my syno's start following my cichlids....I have 3 in there and it is hard to count them when I do my head count in the morning...LOL... :rolleyes:

What kind of fish do you have your syno's with? I was told they do well with african cichlids..I just added 3 to my 55g. cichlid tank...My concern is how can they get there food? The cichlids get it.... I also have a 28g. w/ Tetra's Danio's neon's and cory cats.... :rolleyes:

Can anyone send a pic of a cherry shrimp never heard of this and am curious to see what they look like.. 28g. 6 neons 6 black fin tetras 6 zebra danios 4 cory cats I also have a 55g. african cichlid tank...

Every LFS will tell you something different...I found if you do your own research you can buy from anyone cause you will definately know more... :good:
