Just wanted to say Hi again. I'm getting ready to start a Discus breeding operation (hopefully). Getting ready to set up a 120 (show tank) a 38 (breeder tank), 55 (tank to move pairs after breeding) and going to switch around my 75 to a planted and use my 29 for possibly another breeder tank)...

Thanks for all your reply's...The only thing that I haven't done are the moss balls...The rest I have been doing with no success...The algae is now in every crack and crevice in my tank..

Sure would like to know your secret of totally getting rid of algae..I have green spot which I need to scrape at least once a month...My water conditions are always very good...I have done everything that I could research but have found no way to completely get rid of it..I even bought a R/O...

If you want to get rid of all your snails, buy a clown loach..I got one and my snails were gone in a week..The down side is they get too big for the average aquarium.

Yea my bad..Meant a drop checker..I have one ordered and plan on using it in combination with ph meter. One more question..Is 30 ppm the target for C02 and if at that target will ph stay consistent at around 6 to 6.5....Thanks for your help

What is your opinion of a drop counter...My goal is a plnted discus tank and possibly breeding down the road which is my reason for lower ph value.

Hi I have purchased a bigger cannister filter for my 55 gallon heavily planted tank..My question is can I just hook it up and let it run with the other for a month to build bacteria or could I just take some media from old filter and add to new one,, then disconnect old one. i have a C02 system...

You may want to check the phosphate levels in your tap water..My tap water has high phosphate levels and I had the same problem until I put some phosphate remover in my filter...It cleared mine up slowly over a 2 month period..My problem was Green Spot Algae (GSA).Just a suggestion..Good Luck

Can anyone tell me how to convert the GH and KH readings to dgh readings..I bought a test kit abd it shows my KH as 143 and my gh at 210...I am trying to figure out the dgh readings from those. I want to lower the gh for breeding..Any help would be greatly appreciated. __________________

This is more like an area of green algae that eventually will get on all the glass if not scraped on a regular basis..It is also all over substrate and ornaments. I am trying to get rid of it because I am tired of scraping it off exery week or two.
