I understand what you are saying but I do this whenever I have a problem of any kind I have not lost a patient yet. The salt will kill any parasite eggs and the Paraguard not only kills the parasite but will also treat any fungal or bacterial issues.

first off, if it only one fish remove it from the community tank and treat with SeaChem Paraguard and add Aquarium Salt follow the directions on the bottle. If there are more fish remove any catfish from the tank and add Aquarium Salt and Paraguard.
