Thanks for the info, guys. Hes about three inches, and his tankmates include a akf, senegal bichir, and synodontis. As soon as the weather clears up I'm going down to the river to fish out some fly larvae for him, I'm sure he'll enjoy those.

So whats the best staple food for these guys, it doesn't seem interested in freeze dried bloodworm nor shrimp. Any ideas?

They move so slow that it shouldnt be a problem. I have the same thing in my two small planted tanks, an inch or so of sand with topsoil underneath. No mess at all!

A school of your preference of rainbowfish would look good.

I'm curious as if the brackish water will affect their breeding. I have heard they can breed quickly and I hope this doesn't slow them down.
