A cheap way to go. Get a couple of clip-on floodlights from Home Depot. The plain ones that are about -$5 or so.
Then you can get a couple of LED lights rated at 5000 k, in at least 60 wt. equivalent. Probably want bigger. I use LED flood lights. The 5000k works great my plants love it.
Yes, the mouths were like that when I got them. They were really tiny, only a few days old. The sales girl had just given some to a little girl and her father. She was so excited. I asked to see and then asked the salesgirl is there were any more that I could have. She found 4 more.I don't...
At Petco I was given 4 baby livebearers. I was told they were Platys. They were newborn. I put them in a 3 gal quarantine tank.
They had really funny looking mouths. Wide open all the time. Attached are some photos. They all eventually died. Two from being bullied. I don't know what...
I've always liked Duckweed. Just don't let it get to the point of covering the entire water surface. I think it is pretty easy to control, also some fish snack on it.
Check out your local Home Depot or equivalent, the plumbing dept. Check out the different kinds of plastic sewer
pipe fittings. Lots of neat stuff to use as a cave.
Wherever you shop for fish, look at the tanks carefully, check for any sick fish, clamped fins, and especially any dead fish in the tank. I have found Petco has better looking tanks, generally.
CFL's on the 10 gal are 2700k and the plants are growing surprisingly good. I recently shopped around and
was able to find CFL 5000k "Daylight". I have changed to the 5000k's. It will be interesting to see what the plant
growth rate will be. If it changes at all.
