Question on hatching brine shrimp eggs

I have been hatching BBS for 15 days straight so while I'm not experienced as others I'll answer what I can. 1. PH does not seem to matter. I've hatched via RO water and tap both of which have very different PH readings. 2. Light has zero effect on how the BBS hatch. Temperature however, is...

    About vacuuming the gravel?

Depends on the type of setup. I gravel vac once a week in my discus tank but in my densely planted tanks, I never gravel vac substrate and just keep up with WC

Oh my... We'll have to disagree. These spawning discus are from a juwel 450 planted tank with cory cats, a large school of tetras, amano shrimp, and a lot of plants... In my living room Also bright juwel led spectrum lights, 2 inches of substrate, (to hold the plants in place) co2 running at...

    Buenos aires tetras

They're pretty ferocious amongst themselves in my experience. They wont squabble but more so dominate your black skirts if you combine them.

How to decrease aggression in discus tank

I think your problem is due to three separate factors that has culminated in your discus death. The first is that you don't have enough discus. You need six as a minimum to spread the aggression around. Discus aggression like most cichlids is hierarchy and spawning related and at groups of less...

Hey guys I really appreciate the interest. I've been in the hobby for some time but this is the first time I've actually put effort into raising fry of any species beyond adding some decap brine for apisto and tetra fry I've managed to save. But this is a different kettle of fish entirely...

Thank Viking. I've got them eating live baby brine shrimp now and they'll leave the mothers side completely to chase them down. Another important change is that today their showing the distinctive red ring around their eyes which gives some indication as to their health.

Yup it's very exciting to see them grow. Just looking at the contrast in the pics I took on day 1 as opposed to a week later show they're growing faster than I expected. The mucus from their parents must be extremely nutritious.

    Cycle starters?

I'm going to say something some might find controversial... But from my understanding those expensive bottles of bacteria which are reported to contain "Beneficial bacteria" are money sinks. The bacteria need a source of food and oxygen to survive and to date nobody has explained how these are...

    London nitrates

    1. 1. After you set up the RO unit and do the first flush of the system as instructed. The PH should be in the same region as the tap water. It will remove impurities but the PH is basically the same. 2. Your tank is roughly 50G (if my off the cuff math serves me correctly) you will need to...
