    Red Dwarf Gourami Swelling Up

A little perhaps, but not noticeably. I had read up about gouramis and dropsy on here, but thought that just the belly swelled up. I will wait and see what happens. Is it kinder to kill the fish (not that I could bring myself to do it!!) or just let them die naturally? Thanks for your advice...

    Red Dwarf Gourami Swelling Up

Hi, Not just his belly, the whole fish. Tends to be floating around at the top of the tank most of the time but will happily swim around the tank in the middle and towards the bottom, so no flotation issues I don't think. Any ideas are most welcome!

    Air Stone

A long soak in white vinegar did the job, cheers! Distilled white vinegar has lots of uses around the house it seems!! I put a few ml in the rinse cycle with the bath towels and microfibre towels...they come up SO fluffy and do not smell of the stuff at all! 20-40ml depending on load...off...

    Air Stone

Because the water in my area is hard, my air stones get bunged up and end up useless or cblocked. I keep buying new ones but is there a way to clean them of the (what I presume is) scale that is clogging them up? I realise air stones are not a necessity, I just like watching the bubbles and my...

    Thermometer/heater Problem

Hagen say return it to them and if it is faulty they will replace it. The email admitted that the sound isn't exactly normal so that in dicates a fault to me. We will see what they say. I know it's not alot of interest but thought I'd post in case somebody else searches for this problem :good:

    Thermometer/heater Problem

It's started making a very strange and annoying 'whirring' or quiet 'screeching' sound intermittendly. Has anybody experienced this before?

Just Got A New Fluval U2 Filter.....

I'd rather use the old pads in the new filter than run 2 filters for 2 months! Can I just leave the new pads floating around in the tank for a month until they are "ready" to be put into the new filter? Or better still, use the new filter on it's own BUT, with ONE new pad and ONE old pad...

Just Got A New Fluval U2 Filter.....

Cheers, sounds easy. My 2+ pads are in bad shape, a bit torn etc. How can I go about getting the new pads in shape so I can use them in the new filter? Sorry to sound dumb but what is floss?

Just Got A New Fluval U2 Filter.....

Ok, my old Fluval 2 is on it's way out. I have bought a new Fluval U2 to replace it. I'm presuming I have to run them both at the same time for a while until the new one is "aclimatised" (!) Is this right? How long for? Does anybody else have any more advice? I'm also going to take the...
