how do i determine if theyre hard or not? take the fish out and poke at them? they look dense enough to push the fins out a bit on the raised bumps. on the head it looks like theyre filled with fluid. its clear from the top almost like a pimple, but on the body they are dark.

I recently bough two more rams for a new tank im setting up. On closer inspection of the fish i saw that there are little black bumbs under the skin of the fish. in the light you can see them clearly in the body of the fish. there are bumb on the head aswell they are swollen. Any 1 have any...

the last post by john seems the only foolproof way of sexing the rams. while the black dorsal rays might be longer its hard to compare them at a lfs when they all look the same. ill be checking the distance between the anal dorsal fins and the tail to sex them. ty for all yout help. ah dam ...
