Sounds painful as well as embarrassing.
Some years back I slid down some stairs in Dr Scholl sandalls - the kind that have one bar across the front and have no flexibility - I couldn't stop sliding and the back of my head bumped each stair on the way down. Ugh.
I do hope so! That would be great (I think)
I will try and get a pic. Viewed looking down on the fish, the swelling looks like even 'bumps' on each side. Not really like the pic you attached. The fish is still eating and swimming around ok.
Hi
Can anyone recommend a cold water or pond fish forum or website where I can get advice?
One of my pond fish, a sarasa comet of about 5 years old, has become swollen around the abdomen area and it doesn't look like dropsy. As none of my pond fish have produced fry, I am not sure if the...
Thanks - can you recommend anything? I will have to approach a vet in that case as I do not think that I can get anything that strong from the lfs - do you know which type of antibiotic I should ask for?
Thanks - I need to take more readings this evening. Everything has been within correct parameters - nitrates can rise though but I do a lot of water changes. No, no carbon pads.
I can sympathise - my malawi cichlids kept breeding and growing bigger and whilst I was intending to get them a bigger tank (the one they were in wasn't that old) I had a disaster and they all died. To be honest the fish in all three of my tanks are growing bigger and I could do with buying...
I don't know what is the right or wrong way, but I could not face bashing a fish to death even if it is the quickest way. A local vet whose hobby is fishing (I find this odd personally) once offered to euthanise a fish for me in this way but I decided on clove oil instead.
I have read that the...
Hi
I have posted previously about a couple of sick fish I had recently but I now think, from what has happened and from replies that I have received, that I have a bacterial problem in my tank.
Over the last couple of months, I have had a dwarf gourami die from dropsy, a penguin tetra and cory...
I didn't realise that the ongoing cost would be so much as well as quite a bit of worry. I think we spend a lot more on our three tanks (food, conditioner, meds, plants that get eaten too quickly, etc) that we would if we had a dog!
The thing that gets me is that everything goes along so...
Hi
Further to my post on the emergencies section and a comment that anti-bacterial meds are better in the US than the UK, I am travelling to the US in a couple of months and thought that it might be a good idea to visit a lfs over there and stock up on meds for emergencies.
Grateful for any...
