A Guide On Where To Buy Plants

I have used AZGardens in the USA several times and you would think with their constant technical talk and price, they would know what they are doing. Each order of three had the wrong plants in it. Even my orders of fish from them were wrong each time. I think I finally learned my lesson and now...

4.7 Wpg -- Is This Too Much?

I have 3 65w Compact Florecent light tubes. One is Actinic and 10,000k, the other is 6,500k and Colormax, then one with two Royal Blue lights. I planned on using the first two light tubes throughout the day then the Royal Blue tube to simulate Morning and Dusk just before I turn on the LED night...

4.7 Wpg -- Is This Too Much?

Thanks for the responses people! I have a 55 USG tank and pretty much by accident got too many lights installed. Had a little to do with a preexisting lighting system and a new one for the proper light color for plants... Long story short, I turned it on and it was like staring into the sun...

4.7 Wpg -- Is This Too Much?

I have never read anywere of anyone having more than 4.0 Watts Per Gallon (WPG) in their planted freshwater tank. Will 4.7 WPG be bad for my fish? Will I have to turn up the dossing of CO2 to compensate? I eventually want to get a group of schooling fish, either Galaxy Rasboras or some other...

    Shrimp Tank

I have had tones of different kinds of shrimp in the last few years. My favorite are the Cherry Shrimps (make sure you get the real kind, lots of people say there Cherry and there not). I would highly suggest you place some plants, peat and some driftwood in your tank (if you already haven't)...

    Bio-spira

Bio-Spira is usually used primarily for cycling a tank. It really isn't needed after that. The recommended shelf life for Bio-Spira outside of refridgeration is 6 weeks so you are definetly ok.

Tiger Barbs ( What Other Fish Can I Keep With These)

I had mine with a bunch of Harlequin Rasboras and the Rasboras did fine, the Tiger Barbs rarely nipped and when they did they usually got attacked back.

    Fish That Withstand Strong Lighting

I have seen a few Discuss tanks with higher than 3.5 WPG tanks. They seemed fine, but I don't know a lot about Discuss. That's a fricken lot of light though!

    Semi-aggressive Community Stock?

Silvertipped Tetras are awsome looking and they can hold their own against Tiger Barbs. I have even seen mine swimming and playing together. Every once and a while they will get in a fight, but it is usually over a chunk of cucumber I drop in now and then, no harm done they keep on going.

Changing A Gravel Tank To Sand...

If you get sand color sand, you know brownish, then it never really looks dirty. Sift it once and a while. I just dumped my sand in after cleaning it and it worked fine, the fish didn't even seem to care, they went about their business like usual. I just switched to sand after years of gravel...

    Help With Sand Cleaning

I notice the tube to vacuum-tube ratio is a bid deal with my sand suctionyness. -_- If I have a 1/4" tube with a two inch vacuum then I don't get a lot of power, but if I do the opposite then I get bunches. I just searched around online for one with a bigger tube and a smaller vacuum and I...

How Long Will A Fish Survive In The Dark

It depends on the fish. Yes, a day and night cycle is beneficial for most Freshwater fish. Again, it depends on the fish, (whether they need light or not) some are from caves, some from tropics, some from mountains... Not all fish are green so why would we asume all fish are green, (just an...

Switching 29 Gallon Tank To 55 Gallon.

I read over your topic and I will be a little random in my answers, but I speak from experience. First, most people have Cardinal Tetras with their Discuss. Cardinals are a bit bigger than Neon’s. Neon’s will do fine, but if you want to avoid any problems I would go with Cardinal Tetras...

    Which Fish

Wow, it sounds like you have a lot of fish in that tank?!?! From personal experience, if you are going to add 10 more Neon’s then I wouldn't put very many more fish in. A lot of small fish are schooling fish so then you would also have to get more than say 2-3. But, if you are going for more...
