Looking closely, It looks like a scale is infected. Like it dislodged from his body. So anyone have a plan?

I bought him/her ( named him Burnie Mac) about a year ago. All was fine until today when I saw a sore on him. It is red and doenst look like a clasic tumor that is growing in the fish. This looks more like a tick stuck to his side. Make sense? He eats well and acts like its not even there. Water...
