sorry for sounding like i'm ignorant but this guy is giving lots of advice in alot of topics and then he asks if he should turn off his filter. In my opinion if he is so knowledgable about fish how come he dosen't know the consequences of turning off his filter?

unplugging the filter would be a really great help.... you will get an ammonia spike then your fish will die giving an even greater amount of ammonia and then algae will grow aplenty :) Get real.
