Thanks for the replies, its a 180 litre tank (about 48 us gall) there is plenty of bogwood and hidy places and we will get some taller plants to make a screen to make a divider, what if we get a couple of definite females? or should we not.

The lfs did his best to sort a male and female gold ram but we believe we have 2 males, are these going to be ok or do we get 2 females? Thanks in advance They do seem to scrap alot!!

You could try screwfix direct, i think ive seen it in the cat or even on-line Bin that idea! its 20.00mm and you have to buy a stack of it.

Got the makings of a nice tank but i would also change the substrate, are 3 c02 kits a bit of overkill?

Okay so i'm doing the research into diy or injected c02, would like to try diy for the short term (cost) but trying to locate bulkhead fittings to fit to the 'pop' bottle screwcap (as mentioned in other threads) anyone with advice on where to find these things as i cant glue the tube to the lid...

Looking into CO2 and looking at using a fire extinguisher (sp) but all our factory cylinders have a female thread, will i get a reg to fit? and will it allow filling. May post pic later when i get home. Thanks in advance

A quick update on my fishless cycling attempt, I put the ammonia in and left the filter and heater running i returned from a couple of days away and checked the ammonia level and its way off the chart!! I am now going away for 6 days will i see a drop in ammonia levels when i return or have i...

As maths is not my strong point, has anyone done the sums for how many millilitres of ammonia to add to 180 litre tank? or will i have to use the 'add to a bucket method?'

Hi everybody, I have been surfing these pages for a while now and would like to know as i am going away for 12 days over christmas can i set my new tank up with some ammonia and let it run till i get back? Then sort out the levels when i get back? Would this be ok? :/ Thanks in advance.
