    29 gallon stocking question

So I made the mistake of buying some buenos aires tetras. I am rehoming them. I'd like to put something else in my tank but I'm not sure what. I had seen many sites stating buenos aires needed 6 fish and were peaceful so I want to hear more from people who have kept the fish themselves. Tank...

Buenos Aires Tetras- Aggression with Each Other

That's unfortunate. How much do they normally chase each other? I haven't had tetras before so I can try adding more certainly, but I don't want them to be stressed out, and it sounds like my tank might be too small for them.

Ok thanks, I kept reading 6 fish to start with was fine.

Buenos Aires Tetras- Aggression with Each Other

So I have a 29 gallon tank. I only had 5 corydoras in it for a few months. I finally decided to get some buenos aires tetras. I got the 6 that was recommended to start with. While they were in their quarantine tank, they attacked one of the smaller ones. His tail got pretty much destroyed. I...

    Water Changing Questions

So question. I have a 30 gallon tank I've been changing by bucket. I'd like to start changing the water via pond pump but am not sure what size I need. I have a 30 gallon that I do a 50% water change at a time. The distance from the tank to the sink is less than 50 feet, but it's around 40...

    Stocking-Ideas for a 29 gallon tank

@PheonixKingZ @Byron If I got any shrimp (cherry shrimp etc.) which fish would I be able to keep with them and not have them get eaten? Do not fish eat the shrimp?

    Stocking-Ideas for a 29 gallon tank

So I currently have mollies in a 29 gallon tank, but I recently learned that I have very soft water (6 dGH). So I plan on rehoming them as soon as possible. Once the mollies are gone, I really want some corydoras and plan on getting 9-12 of them for the tank. But besides the corys, I am not...

    Quarantine Tank - Corys

Yea I wish the people in the petstores were more informed, since I wouldn't have gotten the mollies if I had known this but I plan on doing a lot more research before I get more fish now. (At least I know a little bit more about my water hardness).

    Quarantine Tank - Corys

Thank you for all the information you've given. I wish the fish stores were more informed so I could have figured this out before purchasing the mollies. I will probably rehome them if I can. Do you happen to know (I am almost 100% sure the 15 days have come and gone for the petsmart return) if...

    Quarantine Tank - Corys

Alright thanks for the information! I plan on changing out the substrate today even if I don't get corydoras since it sounds like sand is a better choice. I'll just keep an eye on the parameters and hopefully the bacteria will come back quickly.

    Quarantine Tank - Corys

That surprises me that they aren't compatible since I've seen so many different sites and references saying they are. That is unfortunate! As for the water hardness, I hadn't looked at that before. I just looked it up the water hardness, and in my city, it is only 101ppm or 6 gpg. How can I make...

    Quarantine Tank - Corys

Thanks for the information! Yea, I just have the mollies in the 29 gallon right now so I think I'll switch it to sand before it becomes more difficult. I wish I had known that before putting the things in there, but at least I learned what is best for the fish. Do you happen to know, since I...

    Quarantine Tank - Corys

Great information, thank you. Do you still clean the sand once a week with a siphon hose? Are there any other things that need to be done to keep the sand clean and the tank healthy?

    Ammonia Levels Slightly Elevated

That's a good idea. I also have just been rinsing them off with tap water and then leaving them to dry.
