    Bristlenose Pleccos behaviour

Yeah, I will eventually set them up with a cave, vibrating can also mean breeding displays which is another possibility as one has slightly branching bristles indicating a male. However they were just put in the tank so you may be right that it was territorial although they have settled down...

    Bristlenose Pleccos behaviour

Hi, so I've been keeping bristlenose pleccos for a while now, I had a female for quite a while but I recently got a pair of younger pleccos for my aquarium. I've done some research on breeding behaviour and mine are quite peacefully getting on but also conform to a mating behaviour, vigorous...

Dwarf Gourmis and neon rainbow fish, thoughts?

Well yes, my water is very hard and that's why I no longer have females as they were noticeabley stressed in my tank and a couple died. However, my male gourami is very happy in my aquarium and has been for the last 3 years, taking him out wouldn't be the right choice. I'm keeping him alone...

Dwarf Gourmis and neon rainbow fish, thoughts?

Dwarf Gourmis and Neon rainbow fish, thoughts? I've been keeping my extremely friendly male dwarf gourami with barbs for a while now but I recently introduced some neon rainbow. At present I only have one as the females I had were not suited to my tank hardness. But with the addition of my neon...

    Issue with high pH

My initial thread told you my carbonate was 300 and my pH 8.4. My Gh is 9 according to my test kit

    Issue with high pH

Okay I have tested both my tank water and my tap water and both have carbonate and hardness levels about the same. I might consider getting a KH reducer and gradually introduce this if you think that's best. Thanks

The gouramis I will monitor for the time being

    Issue with high pH

Okay thanks, I think I have test kits for hardness and I generally have fish that prefer hardness of water

    Issue with high pH

    Okay is gh general hardness?

    Issue with high pH

So, is there a way to reduce carbonate or do I not need to? In which case do I need to do anything?

    Issue with high pH

This would actually explain some thing because I haven't had any barb deaths

    Issue with high pH

Okay thanks so considering I have 3 gouramis and 10 barbs altogether then my water hardness shouldn't really charge if barbs like the water hardness to be up there. What about my pH surely it's unsafe to leave it at this high level?

    Issue with high pH

Hi, I recently noticed that my pH levels in my tank are quite high (8.4) same goes for my carbonate levels which are 300. I then tested my tap water and the same readings were shown. Which lead me to believe there was a problem with my tap water. But I have recently recycled a fraction of the...
