    Fundulopanchax gardneri .

I think you’re right about that . What you say about large groups living together peaceably is right too . I have read other guys say the same thing and my own observations tell me it’s right . I have already separated the sexes and won’t put them together until the females are ripe and then I...

    New Nothobranchius coming .

This is one of those great moments in fish keeping for me . Like when I was a kid and had my first guppy fry and later when I had Betta’s spawn for me . This is a real moment of satisfaction and also wonder because of how different these fish are . You are right when you call it instant...

    Fundulopanchax gardneri .

Welp . . . . my crummy luck strikes again . Yesterday I noticed that my female gardneri died . Perfectly fine one day and dead the next . So . . . . . I did what had to be done . I went back and bought the rest of what they had . One male and four females . Bought another five gallon too . I’ve...

    New Nothobranchius coming .

Yes , it’s obvious that I need a big grow out tank . All too obvious . Today I see several males getting some color . This is mind boggling how fast they grow . I’ve never seen anything like this .

    New Nothobranchius coming .

It’s unbelievable to put a huge bunch of BBS into the ten gallon I have my guentherii fry in and watch it disappear in 15 minutes . I have two hatchers going and may need a third if I get more fry . I might even need four staggered to give me BBS twice a day . Micro worms don’t really fill them...

    What are you doing today?

@GaryE I am convinced that the bare tank and mop , picking eggs and incubating in Petri dishes method is the most productive way of breeding killifish . The natural way in a heavily planted aquarium works but if you want lots of fish you need to go the bare tank and mop route . That’s how I’m...

    Fundulopanchax gardneri .

Epiplatys dageti is another one that interests me . This could go on and on . It’s like @Innesfan said “ you cannot stop at one “ . Ed Warner , in his book” Success With Killifish “ , mentions the orange red throat of E. dageti and that they are very prolific . Edd Kray , who did the 2005...

    What are you doing today?

For some reason I’ve gotten into a fish room work habit . I spend about two to three hours feeding and doing water changes every day . Feed the BBS , reset the hatchers , do a water change on at least one aquarium and fuss with the fly and worm cultures . The afternoons are mine for yoga and...

    Aplocheilus panchax

I like those . They are on my wish list along with A . dayi and A . blockii . Aplocheilus species have a subtle beauty and they are fun to watch . I love watching my Golden Wonder lineatus eat fruit flies . They’re different in their spawning habits too in that the males are easier on the females .

    Apple tree question

This is the one thing many people neglect . Just watering the grass around trees isn’t enough . They need a deep soaking at least twice a month . Trees are big plants and need a lot of water .

    New Nothobranchius coming .

I hope these eggs give you some females . A nice bit of luck getting those eggs now . My guentherii fry are four weeks old now and I see some starting to get vertical bars on their bodies . These will be the males I’m fairly sure . It flabbergasts me to see how fast these fish are growing and...

    Fundulopanchax gardneri .

Another one that I had but no success with . I will definitely have a rematch with them . The pair I had just would not put on size and I had a feeling that they had not been fed properly as fry . The female died first and didn’t get over an inch long in the six months or so I had them . Then...
