If you do want to use CO2 in your aquarium, avoid running the CO2 system at night, because the fish could then be short on oxygen. Healthy plants do produce some Carbon Dioxide when it’s dark.

We have a 12 inch air stone that produces a curtain of fine bubbles across the back glass. Also we have a rail across the top that forms the output for the filter, so that also produces surface movement of the water. We have never see any evidence of fish going to the surface short of oxygen...
Our main aquarium uses a digital thermometer, but the other tanks use glass internal thermometers. In our view those stick on strips are a waste of time, difficult to determine the stated values and are not accurate.
