I think the white stuff you are talking about is bacteria that is present in the wood and when you submerge it the bacteria start dying off hence the white that covers it. It’s only a temporary thing and a lot of fish love to eat it it’s totally harmless to fish I’ve had it happen in every piece...

The white looks like stringy white poop. You could be dealing with an internal parasite here. Touch wood I’ve never had this problem and not sure which meds to use but others will know I’m sure.

Hello everyone, I’ve got these long pointed snails in my substrate not a huge amount but I keep finding a small amount when I do gravel cleans. Don’t look like Malaysian trumpet snails to me , should I remove them all? I didn’t put them in the aquarium btw so it’s a mystery where they came from
