I'd say carbon inserts aren't necessary unless you're removing meds from the tank. You dobt need to change the foam till it's literally falling apart as it stores all the good bacteria. Just give it a swish in tank water you've removed when you do a water change and pop it back in. Don't use tap...

I have a 54L tank 4 male guppies, 2 female balloon mollies and 1 male platy. Am I fully stocked or over stocked? There is so much conflicting info, I'm confused!!

The tank is 54L. I live in London UK. I shake bottle #2 for well over the recommended time and have even tried banging it loads on the table and wall. I guess it's just a dud test then!

I'm using the API test too. My tank water is slightly darker red than the tap but hard to get an exact reading as it doesn't really match any of the shades on the card. Would plants help?
