    * I Think It's Blue-green *

I had great success with Erythromycin tablets (a form of Myracin). Along with blacking out the substrate with Duck Tape and making sure that I keep up with maintenance, it seems to have wiped out my BGA with no damage to the filter bacteria. I used about a quarter of a tablet (in a 170L ) tank...

    Jimbooo's Vision 450 Journal

All well here, jimbooo.... Tanks looks great already, even with just those few plants....... Speaking stocking..... I was never a huge fan of Rummy-Noses but I added a shoal of 10 for color and movement and they're a wonderful little fish. Always active and shoaling........ and cheap!

    Jimbooo's Vision 450 Journal

Another jimbooo masterpiece coming up! Howya Jim, I haven't been on here in an age and I come back to this monster tank project. Looks great so far. I'll be watching with interest as I have my eye on a 5 footer that I have no space for!

    Please Critique My Moss

Don't know about the rust but you'll need to wrap more thread around that moss. It'll be floating in no time. Don't be afraid to tie it down well.

My Planted Tank - Round 4

Right, so far so good. It's a bit early to tell but the cheapo aquatic compost seems to be doing the job. It took a few days for the water to clear but that was mostly because the flow rate on my filter was too high! I moved some dwarf hair grass, a dwarf sag and some hygrophillia from my large...

    Substrate

I've just set up a tank using cheap aquatic compost from a garden centre. It cost me 6 euro for a 20 litre bag. It's a bit early to know for sure but it seems to be working well. Plants that were dying in my large tank are coming back to life in it...... Might be worth a shot.

Chinese Algae Eater And Moss Balls... Nightmare?

I'm guessing a little as I have neither 'moss balls' nor algae eater in my tank but I reckon this fish thinks it's Xmas all over again. As far as I know. moss balls (Marino Moss) is actually an algae, albeit an attractive sort. Having said that, how much of a moss ball can one fish eat? I'd say...

    How?

Right then. Which plants are rotting? Can you describe the rotting, if you know what I mean. Is the main stem rotting above ground?

    Need A Little Help

It's not really as simple as that. What do you want to grow in your tank. Just like fish, plants have particular requirements so there is no magic formula for all plants. Have a look at the members tanks thread here: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=111385 That should give you...

    How?

I think we need a bit more information to help you properly. Firstly, do you know what sort of plants they are? Do you have any photos? What sort of substrate are you using? Do you have CO2? Give us details of your tank. Size? lighting? Water Stats?

My Planted Tank - Round 4

:) I have a pair. They're more interested in hanging out in my Anubias Nana than stirring sand up. Bear in mind that I have layers of sand and Tetra Complete with Gravel on top because all my top layer of sand has gradually sunk through the gravel! I suppose burrowing snails would be another...

    Jen's 90 Gallon Tank

That looks wonderful, Jen.... That Limnophilia is unstoppable when it takes off! Beautiful Kribs too...

My Planted Tank - Round 4

Well, I used sand because I have a number of Corys but it very quickly (6 months) became anaerobic. Any time I replant i'm finding dead black roots and it needs to be agitated every two weeks to drive off the inevitable HS buildup. Also, I think that the nutrients in the TetraPlant Complete are...

My Planted Tank - Round 4

Thanks Jamie, it's an AquaEL 170L Bow Front, 4 x 36W Compact Florescent T5 lighting, pressurised CO2, 2 external filters (A Eheim 2213 an an AquaEl that I picked up cheap, but it's way over filtered, which is just as well because it's heavily stocked) Substrate is TetraPlant Complete, play sand...
