    30 Gallon Stocking Advice

That is very interesting, I did not know that cichlids are less shy with other fish around. Guess I'll nix the lemons then. Shame, the yellow color is very nice, not too many fish have it from what I've seen. Never heard of pencilfish, and haven't seen them in for sale. They are very pretty...

    30 Gallon Stocking Advice

Thanks for the help guys. I guess I have to wait to see what sort of algae grows. Both of these fish need to be introduced later, anyways. For stocking order, it would be corys, then hatchetfish, then algae eaters, and apistos last? Do you guys think I have room to fit another species in...

    30 Gallon Stocking Advice

Thanks for the informative response Byron! It's a shame about the cichlid eggs, but probably for the best, I don't have the resources to raise fry right now. I looked at Farlowella, but it seems they are fairly hard to raise as well. Will a 30 gallon tank generate enough algae to support...

    Hello

Ah, that's a good point, that should be straight from the tap. Don't have a testing kit right now, but asked a friend and their goldfish tank has a pH of 7.3, which seems much more reasonable. The water actually tastes different after sitting out for a day, I always wondered why

    Hello

The water supply company lists it at 20ppm, people say this area has soft water. Was a little strange to me too.

    Hello

    Thanks! Right now I have nothing at all  I'm thinking of something in the 30g range, choosing between 29 - 30L x 12W x 18H 30 breeder - 36L x 12W x 16H 33 long - 48L x 12W x 12H Essentially asking you to design my whole tank for me  pH is 8.5 - 9, hardness is 20ppm according to the...

    Hello

Hi, I'm new to the forum, haven't kept fish for a few years, moving around and such, but finally have the chance to settle down and get a new tank! I'm thinking about a 29 gallon Amazon biotope, looking for suggestions on stocking and equipment as well. Current plan: 2x Apistogrammas, not...
