The fish died last night, the rest look okay but one has a similar thing going on with his fin now. I hope the two cardinals that we tried really hard to save the last time don’t end up infected now. Really thinking of giving up keeping fish already. Is there any place to buy fish which is...
It wasn’t there when we originally got it on Sunday. The water levels are all still reading as good with 0 nitrite and ammonia. It doesn’t look like white spot. I’ve also noticed a couple of them have slightly swollen bellies, could this be because they are carrying eggs or will they still be...
Hi, after having an issue with cardinal tetras in a new tank and losing 4 out of 6, we’ve managed to keep our other two with daily water changes and they were back to good health albeit a bit lonely. Anyway all our ammonia and nitrite levels were good so we added some more cardinals at the...
Hi Colin,
The dimensions of the tank are 43cm x 26cm x 70cm.
PH is around 6.4 I'm not sure of hardness in figures. The JBL test strips show it as being in the second row if that makes sense (1 red square and 3 green).
Thanks
Amanda
After being treated for white spot which is now clear and doing daily water changes to reduce the nitrite levels to 0, the two cardinal tetras we have left really don't seem to be doing well. They are at opposite ends of the tank low down in the plants most of the time and don't even emerge when...
After a bit of a disastrous start with this tank, I am unsure what I am going to do going forward. My thinking is that I will end up getting a bigger tank as this tank is not practical to clean or big enough for the type of fish I like.
I was looking for some suggestions for what could...
Thank you for the advice. My husband has done a large water change tonight and they always seem much happier after the water has been changed. It looks like most of the white spots have gone now so going by the box I only need to give them one more dose and that should be enough to have...
Hi,
Thanks very much for the information that really helps. The Fluval Edge tank is awful we have already learned that after only a few weeks. Looks great but horrendous to clean and not long enough for the fish to have a good swim around. My husband has been looking at larger options so there...
Hello,
Totally new to fish keeping and already learned that with all the conflicting advice it's a bit of a minefield...
Anyway, I set up the Fluval Edge 46l fish tank at the beginning of January as per the manufacturers instruction and the shop said after it had been set up for a week and...
Hi,
I'm totally new to tropical fish and I am planning to purchase a tank and start preparing it for fish. I have heard lots of different things about the cycling process and my question is this - I go on holiday in 3 weeks time for a fortnight, if I get my tank now and begin the process will...
Thanks for the reply Fish Crazy and the link to the cycling the tank.
Is it just a case of siphoning 25% of the water out and replacing it with fresh water? With regards to removing the fish waste, do you have any ideas how best to do this with a fluval edge tank?
I think I may try real...
Hi Everyone,
I've just bought a Fluval Edge Auarium (46l) as a first fish tank and after chatting with one of the shop assistants I have decided to keep tropical fish in it as opposed to cold water fish. I need a heater for this purpose and wondered if anyone could advise which heater would be...
