So, I'm pretty sure this is the culprit that wiped out my entire fish family. I think I over fed and/or didn't clean well enough, being a beginner, and created a parasitic environment. I just want to see what you guys think and what's the best course of action? It's basically all around the back...

Crazy thing is I prob could have saved him. Once I couldn't find him in his normal places, I started looking around the tank. He literally jumped a good 10 ft out of the tank. I'm so sad. :,( My first fish.

I tried to put him back home and left to answer a message for work and I went back couldn't find him in tank and he jumped out the tank and died.. Thanks all.

Update: Shark has lost its color. I'm not sure whats going on. He's swimming around more than when I first put the salt in and I'm watching him eat. Is this him getting better??

Update : Black Molly has now passed. Also, my heater is struggling to keep up with 86 degrees.

Haha, speaking my language! Thanks for the insight, Slaphppy7! I fully agree. The more natural the better. I do have Ick Guard tablets as a last resort but hoping I don't have to resort to that.

Ya, that's where I'm at. I tried the API Super Ick treatment and it killed a bunch of my tetras within a day and I'm thinking it may have had lingering effects. Right now I'm doing the heat trick in my 30 gal. Fingers crossed!

So, I did 1 tablespoon per gal of salt (5 1/2. 1/2 for good measure) an hr ago and the ick looks to be falling off him. Like scabs coming off his fins and his fins already look better. I've read this works all over the net so I'm going to give it a couple days. If not I'll throw a tab in there.

For my 30 gal I'm only using heat cause I can't control the heat in my 5 gal hospital cause it's automatic to 76. I use API Aquarium salt in my hospital since no heat and taking the carbon out. Good plan? Do you think I should do a tablespoon salt per gal and do level 3? Or keep it half tablespoon.
