    Australian Freshwater Noobie

Hi all I have done another test this morning. The tank looks exceptionally good today. All 3 of my tests are reporting nothing. Everything is reading 0.0. Now I did get the tank setup on Sunday last week. That makes it 6 days old, shouldn't I be getting some kinda readings by now? Im a little...

Thanks mate!! I did just do that 70% change as I said, and I immediatly checked my pH, and Ammonia. The ammonia reported clear. As in there was NOTHING in the tank. The pH was excellent too. It seems to be going well so far. I also added some more of the Bio-booster to help the filter along...

I did wash the sponge (in tank water) out while I did the water change and it was black. Like a grimy sump oil kinda black. Im glad I did that! :) Umm, will the water go crystal clear once the tank is cycled correctly? I mean is that a natural reaction? or is there still clearing agents I have...

OK so I am doing a 70% water change now, alhtough I did have a thought. If I am putting new tap water in to the tank, wouldnt that kill the bacteria that has built up in my filter?

I tested the Ammonia, and it was on the bottom of the chart - 0.5mg/l. I know its bad thats its there, but its not at emergency levels. The Nitrite test, reported 0.0ppl and the Nitrate didnt seem to work, It didnt change colour. Am I to assume that these levels, A I fluked it and its all going...

Inside the boxes are little bottles. So you get 5ml of tank water, and then add 5 drops of reagent A, and 5 of B Let that sit and it gives you a colour that you compare against a chart.

Wouldnt the water changes take the tank back to the start of cycling?

    Australian Freshwater Noobie

Ok. So I have my Nitrite/Nitrate/ammonia tester. Ammonia it readed below 0.5 mg/l, and the Nitrite well, it turned green, and there is not a green on the chart. Its only yellow and red. I did the test twice to make certain, but same result. It must have something to do with the water...

No its not heated. Maybe they are not the same guppies as you guys have. Edit - I did only buy them as food for the Cod anyway.

Yep I have been doing that. I cant see him eat, but 1 of my little guppiues was not there this morning, and he wont eat the matchhead size of steak I dropped in there.... no points for guessing what happened there!! I can see the yabbies eating. They were eating carrot, and now I have taken the...

    Australian Freshwater Noobie

Yes that does help. It was pretty loud, but I got it ;) Would this be why the water is slightly cloudy at the moment? or is that just cause its new, or because of the yabbies still flushing their system out. Are there any ways to test the water right now without the kit to see if its safe for...

Awesome. When you say water change once a week, is that 100% water change? and wouldnt that start the whole process again?

Thanks again. So lets say the test kit comes, and it reads that the levels are a little high ( or extraordinary for that matter ) the correct way to fix it, is just 50% water changes until it reaches its desired level?
